We are a small business run by parents, artists, educators, activists, and dreamers-- and we’re all total kids at heart. Our greatest passion is finding time to create and play every day! We hope that our shop inspires families to do the same.
We find joy in filling our shelves with unique, kindly-made products from all around the world that encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and imaginative play. TREEHOUSE is fueled by a love of design and a focus on quality. Many of the companies that we carry are small and independent just like us; we love to get to know them and the story behind our goods.
Pre-TREEHOUSE, Kristen spent her days making art and teaching kids.
While expecting… Kristen wanted to shop local but there was not a kid’s store in Athens.
The epic TREEHOUSE idea was born.
The perfect location was found.
Kristen wrote a business plan and began designing a logo and the shop.
In January 2010, shopbaby was born.

In September 2010, TREEHOUSE kid and craft opened when shopbaby was just 9 months old.
Kristen’s sister, Kim, joined in the fun and started to work at the shop.
Kim decided to take the family business to Atlanta and found a great spot in Decatur.
In 2015, TREEHOUSE kid and craft Atlanta opened.
In 2017, the tiniest shopbaby was born and quickly became a professional toy tester.
