Description

June 22-26 | 9-14 years | M-F : 1pm - 4pm | 585 Barber St Studio G | includes all supplies + snack

This camp invites teens to explore self-expression through junk journaling and creative diary-making. Students will experiment with painting, printing, collage, paper making, zines, and assemblage to create layered, one-of-a-kind journals using found materials, imagery, and writing prompts. Each journal becomes a personal canvas for stories, memories, goals, and dreams, all developed in a thoughtful, creative, and supportive studio environment.

Campers will also bring their journals to life with interactive elements like puppets, paper dolls, secret doors, hidden pockets, and other playful surprises. Through this hands-on, experimental approach, teens will learn to push creative boundaries, tell their stories visually, and craft deeply personal books that celebrate their imagination, voice, and unique perspective.

Instructor: Francie Carson

Francie is an art educator focused on bringing tactile projects into the classroom through textile arts, the occasional sculpture, junk journaling, and printmaking. They believe art is no fun without experimentation, trials, and errors! The more you mess up, the more you learn from the process! When they are absorbed in an art project, Francie can be found furiously knitting, weaving, and sewing! In their free time, they enjoy moving around outside, crafting with buddies, and yoga.
