The weather this week has been pretty crazy…yet somewhat magical!  with the temps just above freezing, if not just below, all I want to do is stay inside and cook (well mostly eat)!  We’ve been getting in some great books about food, and i wanted to share a few of our favorites.  I know all of them will surely cure the winter blues!

In more than 40 exuberant poems and “vandalized” photographs, you’ll meet a city kid who fantasizes about farming on a stoop, a girl with crumpets and crêpes in her head, and a boy with a pet cabbage!

Classes this past week have been filled with love, hearts, and of course glitter!  We are still finding the Valentine’s hidden throughout the store, thanks to the Craft Inc class!

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we wanted to share with you a few last minute crafts to make V-Day that much more special!

We have been enjoying our Art School classes so much!  We started at the beginning with cave paintings and have worked up to greek mythology, Leonardo Davinci, Picasso, Degas, Van Gough, Cezzane, Matisse, Henri Rousseau, and more!

We love any holiday that encourages creative play!  Halloween is such fun and silly holiday.  We love making our own costumes, dressing up, and making our home feel extra spooky!  We have found some really great Halloween crafts that celebrate the season. BOO- here are just a few of our favorites!

Our friends at cakies are always coming up with something amazing!  oh my, I am obsessing over this amazing set of cats and friendly ghost lights.

 What better way to get in the autumn mood than with one of our favorite, easy, outdoor crafts!   With fall on the way, we were reminded of a craft we did for our friends over at Blabla a few years ago, and we’re still as in love with it as ever.

Magnolia leaves make for the perfect canvas for this craft. We’ve found that acrylic paint seems to work the best, and with some touches of gold leaf and glitter, you’ll soon have some lovely, modern results that will stick around for years to come.

 

Looking for something crafty to make with your little one during these last few weeks of summer? This DIY necklace is easy and your little one can wear it back to school!

What you will need:

• pieces of leather
• leather hole punch
• yarn
• tape
• scissors
• paint brush
• craft paint
• mod podge

Steps:

1. cut out several small circles from your leather pieces, varying in size
2. place a strip of tape down the middle of each circle piece
3. using the tape as a guide, paint one side of each circle
4. after the paint has dried, peel the tape off and brush mod podge over the painted area of the circle
5. place your circles in the pattern that you like, and punch one hole on either side of the circle using the leather punch
6. wrap a piece of tape around the end of your yarn, and string the circles onto the yarn to make your necklace
7. cut your yarn and tie your necklace together and you are ready to wear!
