Fresh off of our annual summer break, summer camps were back and another great week in the books!
This week was all about the girls!! We started the day with a small, but amazing group of strong young ladies! I Love Me Camp was all about building confidence through drawing, collage, multimedia, and writing projects. Throughout the week they created their own worry dolls (who doesn’t remember making these as a kid!!), zentangles, peace flags with empowering quotes, treasure jars, and confident bowls.
Our friends at blabla kids just created a new blog, which is amazing! And to kick off their ‘shops we love’ series, they reached out to TREEHOUSE! Blabla has been with us since the beginning and we love everything about them…now go check out their blog!
Last week was a fun filled, and busy, camp week at TREEHOUSE! We started each day with the younger kids (4-6yr) at Art Museum Camp, and ended the day with the older kids (9-14yr) at Sewing Camp. Talk about a blast!! Miss Michelle started the week off with teaching the kids about the very early artwork of cave paintings.
Summer is finally here, which means SUMMER CAMPS at TREEHOUSE!! Last week we had our first camp, and it was amazing!
I have said on multiple occasions, how fortunate we are to be part of such a creative community! When it was time to change our gift certificates, I intantly thought of Smokey Road Press! Local artist and friend, Margot Ecke, has brought back a form of letterpress printing unlike anything else in Athens and every time I step into the shop, I am instantly inspired. From the charming industrial look of the shop, to the smell of the paper and ink…it is truly a magical place!
With the long weekend ahead, we wanted to think of a few activities we could do outside, and flying a kite was the first thing that came to mind! The only downside is that we don’t have a kite, never fear…Pinterest is here!
We found some great DIY kite tutorials, and a lot of them use materials you have laying around the house! No matter if you are going to the beach, a park, a party, or just around the house this weekend, a kite is fun and entertaining for every age!
This kite is great if you are headed to the beach, just make sure to bring some art supplies…love the driftwood! (hello, WONDERFUL)
We have seen a lot of new and soon to be parents come into the store the past few weeks, so we know we have reached baby season!! If you are a new parent, soon to be parent (first time or veteran), or friend/family member looking for the perfect baby shower gift, TREEHOUSE has you covered!
This past weekend sure was busy and very creative around Athens! The opening of Broad 9A, the Indie South Fair Springtacular, Independent Bookstore Day at Avid, and not to forget the 1st Annual Kid’s Art Sale at TREEHOUSE!
The day couldn’t have been more perfect. Tables filled with everything from handmade jewelry, scarves, pottery, paintings, pirate drawings, to lip balm. Behind the tables, the young artists themselves. Such joy, as the happy and enthusiastic shoppers stopped at their booths to look at what they have created! The hard work put into their artwork, surely paid off! Including, the Craft inc class (Tabletop Craft Collective), who have been working so hard the past couple of months, as they were able to raise $47.28 for Sweet Olive Farm!! We are overjoyed with the support of the community and the kids who participated (and the helpful parents!), it’s such a pleasure to call this creative community our home!
Until the next Kid’s Art Show, here are a few pictures from the day…
What mom doesn’t love flowers? And what a special way to show how much you love your mom, by creating your own floral bouquet for her!
Our friends at 3 Porch Farm always have a beautiful array of seasonal flowers, which you can pick up at the Athens Farmers Market at Bishop Park or The Freedom Farmers Market at the Carter Center in Atlanta. It is so easy to get inspired by just entering their booth, as Rinne Allen, another one of our lovely and talented friends, has in the following blog post on Beauty Everyday.
